SOLVE – an observation system of the lagoon of Venice

The project goal is to develop a project to establish an observation system for the adaptive management of the Lagoon of Venice (SOLVE) and to deepen some selected "demonstration modules". In fact, at the time of entry into operation of the Flood Protection System (MOSE) planned in 2018, the lagoon will become "regulated" no longer by the tide cycle, but by human needs. This can lead to changes in the environmental characteristics, but also to produce undesirable "crises" of the associated ecosystem services, namely by avoiding a process-based management system. To this end, an appropriate, scientifically based observation system is needed.
